How to Create Templates for Docuflow
Creating a template for Docuflow is easy, but getting it right ensures your generated documents look professional and polished. Here is a guide to creating the perfect .docx template.
Step 1: Design Your Document
Start by writing your document in Microsoft Word as you normally would. Format the text, add your logo, set the margins, and choose your fonts. This will be the static part of your document that remains the same for everyone.
Step 2: Identify Dynamic Content
Read through your document and identify the parts that need to change for each recipient. Common examples include:
- Names
- Dates
- Addresses
- Amounts
- Account Numbers
Step 3: Insert Placeholders
Replace the dynamic content with placeholders. In Docuflow, placeholders are surrounded by double curly braces.
Example:
Dear John Doe,
Becomes:
Dear {{Name}},
Make sure the text inside the braces matches the column header in your Excel file exactly (case-sensitive).
Step 4: Prepare Your Data
Open Excel and create columns that match your placeholders. | Name | Date | Amount | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | John Doe | 2025-11-25 | $500 | | Jane Smith | 2025-11-26 | $750 |
Step 5: Upload and Generate
Go to Docuflow, upload your .docx template and your .xlsx data file. Click generate, and watch as your documents are created instantly!
